Burkle takes District 3 seat on Foley City Council

Roderick Burkle took the oath of office to join the Foley City Council at the District 3 representative on Monday, Oct. 6. His wife, Terry, holds the Bible.
FOLEY – Roderick Burkle became the District 3 representative on the Foley City Council on Monday, Oct. 6 when he was sworn in to fill the unexpired term of Richard Dayton.
Burkle was the only candidate in the seat for District 3 in the 2025 election. Candidates elected in the Foley municipal elections in August are scheduled to take office when the new term begins Nov. 3.
The council appointed Burkle to fill the month remaining in the current District 3 term. Dayton died on Aug. 21.
Two incoming council members will take office in November. Tim Lower was elected to the District 2 seat. Larry Engel will become the new District 4 representative.
Two current council members, Wayne Trawick in District 1 and Charles Ebert III in District 5, were re-elected to office and will begin new terms in November. Mayor Ralph Hellmich will also begin a new term after being unopposed in his bid for re-election.
Burkle is a lifelong Foley resident. He was in telecom engineering before returning to Foley to work for Gulf Telephone. He served on the Foley Volunteer Fire Department for 25 years as a firefighter and officer. He spent eight years on the Foley Planning Commission and currently serves on four city boards and the Foley Public Facilities Cooperative Improvement District. In 2016, he earned his Alabama Real Estate License, followed by his Alabama Brokers License in 2024.
