FOLEY, AL – Foley voters will return to the Civic Center for the 2025 municipal elections after polling stations were moved in 2020.
Municipal elections in Foley and most of Alabama will be held on Aug. 26, 2025. If a runoff election is needed for any office, that election will be held Sept. 23, 2025.
The Foley City Council voted Monday, March 17, to approve a first reading on an ordinance to establish the polling place for the 2025 city elections. The ordinance will have a second reading and vote on final approval at an upcoming council meeting.
During the last city election in 2020, the council moved the polling station to the Foley Event Center. The larger location in the Event Center allowed more space for social distancing during the COVID 19 outbreak at that time.
The position of mayor and the five City Council seats will be up for election for a new four-year term.
Council members will run by district. The City Council voted earlier in March to adjust district boundaries to accommodate population changes since the last election.
The mayor’s position is elected at large throughout the city.
In 2021, the Alabama Legislature extended the terms for municipal offices by one year so that elections would not be held the same year as presidential or state elections.
