In October, the university hosted local business-owners and community leaders to discuss the significance of the space industry in Alabama. U.S. Air Force Chief Master Sgt. (Ret.) Mike Perry, dean and assistant provost of the College of Space, Intelligence, and Military Operations, led the conversation.

“With the U.S. Space Command headquarters scheduled to move to Huntsville, Alabama is on the ground floor for developing the future of space operations,” said Dr. Perry. “Our community has a tremendous opportunity to create economic growth through innovation in the space operations industry.”

The Doctor of Public Administration is one of the university’s new doctoral programs, along with the Doctor of Health Care Administration. The DPA was designed for experienced professionals seeking to influence policy, bridging the gap between academic theory and real-world application.

"This program comes at a vital time when organizations across all sectors require leaders capable of navigating complex regulatory environments and driving systemic change," said Elwin Jones, Ph.D., vice provost for the Doctoral Center and dean of College of Business and Technology.
