Celebrating World Sea Turtle Day and End of School Year

Calling all turtle lovers, book lovers, children, families, and fun seekers! Come celebrate World Sea Turtle Day and the End of the School Year with Linda B. Schmitz Spangrud, an International Children’s Author of the “Turtle People Series,” at Baumhower’s restaurant in Tanger Outlet Mall, Foley, on May 23 from 12:00 - 4:00 PM. 

Fun activities for all ages.  Food specials (Inflation Bites, Halftime Specials) and drink specials will be offered throughout this time period. Book signings with special discounts and turtle stickers. Children’s activities include a Turtle Scavenger Hunt on the patio and Turtle Balloons. There will be special recognition, thank you for Share the Beach Sea Turtle Volunteers (part of Alabama Coastal Foundation). All “Share the Beach Volunteers” wearing their green shirts will be presented with a food coupon.

Linda will be signing her books including the most recent release, “Young Jack and the Turtle People”.  Baumhower’s guests will be offered a book bundle discount and folks buying the books will be given turtle stickers.  She is a strong believer in Environmental Stewardship including preservation of sea turtles and the beach environment.    She said, “I believe all of us can make a difference and work together to create a better world and future”.  

A retired Illinois educator, Linda spent her career as a teacher, principal, and school district administrator.  Family and friends are very important to her.  She has always loved to read children’s books to her students, son, and grandson.  Her zest for living includes writing, reading, golfing, music, and travel.  She is an active volunteer in her community. After moving to the Alabama Gulf Coast with her husband Tom in 2006, they became involved in the sea turtle (Share the Beach) program. They have been volunteers ever since.
All books are in English and German and are available on three continents, five countries, and 20 states, including many gift shops along the Gulf Coast. 

A portion of the sales from profits of this book will be donated to the Sea Turtle Conservation Program.
